N. Copy, in the autograph of James II, of a statement, the first of two, on the claims of the Roman Catholic Church, said to have been written by
Charles II and to have been found among his papers after his death; 1685. Beg. 'The discourse we had the other day'. This copy varies slightly from the text as printed in Copies of Two Papers written by the Late King Charles II, 1686. Cf. Brit. Mus. Quart., viii, 1933-1934, PP. 95-96. Formerly owned by the Bullock family of Shipdham Hall, co. Nor£ ff. 137-138b. Presented by Capt. T. B. A. Haggard, R.A.M.C., husband of Angela and son-in-law and nephew of Sir H. Rider Haggard. Letters from all three relative to the gift are included (ff. 139-144).
