NARRATIVE of the exile of the convent of Canterbury, and of the translation of S. Thomas; a fragment, consisting of the first quire only of an apparently unknown work. Rubric of prologue beg. "Incipit prologus in exilium conventus Cantuariensis necnon in translationem beati Thome Martyris" ; prologue, "Inter felices rerum successus infelicitatis dulce est aliquociens reminisci"; text, "Cum igitur sacrosancta Cantuariensis ecclesia" ; ends imperfectly "set nos meliorem," with catchword "partem." Vellum ; ff. 8; 91/2 in. x 7 in. Early XIII cent. Single columns of 30 lines. Sec. fol. "ut ad sonitum." Initials in red and blue, with pen-work. On the lower margin of f. 8 b is the quire number. "I." Phillipps MS. 2214 ; entered in his folio catalogue as purchased from Taylor (salecats. 1897, lot 37 ; 1913, lot 538).
