WODEHOUSE PAPERS. Vol. XIX. Ranulph Higden, Polychronicon. The continuation (from 1342 to 1376) is that which is printed in the Rolls Series edition of Higden (ed. C. Babington and J. R. Lumby, 1865-1886) vii, pp. 407-428, from the Caius College, Cambridge, MS. 82. lt ends "sermonibus predicantes." The text of Higden in the two MSS. is also similar, both being derived from an exemplar in which many words were illegible, but this MS. is not a copy of the Caius MS. Title, "Policronicon." Beg. "Post preclaros arcium scriptores." At the end are additions, whereof (a) is in an early 16th cent. hand, the rest are probably of the late 15th cent., viz. (a) List of Popes to Julius II [1503-1513], with date and length of pontificate added for the first fifteen only. f. 138; (b) Genealogical table of the kinsmen of Christ from Ysacar and Nazaphat. f. 140b; (c) Index to names in the Polychronicon, roughly alphabetical. f. 141; (d) Genealogical table of the descent of Henry VI of England from Louis IX of France. f. 147b.
