Material: Parchment.
Foliation: ff vi + 221. f i is the board of the front cover.
Dimensions: 145 x 110 mm.
Ruling: 90 x 60 mm, 20 lines per page.
Binding: Bound in boards covered with blind-tooled leather, originally red (17th century), each studded with five brass bosses, most of which are lost, and with traces of a clasp. On the board of the front cover (f i recto) is written Γαβρηλ Βγ. The fore-edge can be viewed on Digitised Manuscripts as f viii recto.
Decoration: much-defaced miniature of the Psalmist, f 1v. Decorated headpiece, f 2r. Initials, headings and points in red. Some scribblings and drawings in the margins.

Archbishop Athanasius of Imbros, owned in 1627: ownership inscription (f 218r): + Ἐτούτο τὸ ψαλτηριον εἴνε ἐμοὶ Ἀθανασίου ἀρχιεπισκόπου καὶ τὸ ἐγόρασα, ἀπὸ τὸ Σκόπελο, ἀπο τὸ μαστρο Γιοργίου Τζαγκαρ(ίου?) καὶ ἔδοκα, ἄσπρα, ἐκατὸν ἐπτὰ, καὶ ὅποιος μου το πάρι [=ἀπάρῃ] νὰ ἐχη τὰς ἀρὰς τῶν ἀγίων πατέρων, ἠ δὲ καὶ τουτο δώσω ἐγὼ νὰ ᾖναι εἰς αὐτὸν ἡ ἐυλογία τοῦ Δαυίδ. ,ἀχκζ
Owned by the Monastery of St. Paul [on Mount Athos?] and then by the Karakallou Monastery on Mount Athos: ownership inscription, f ii recto, τοῦτω το ψαλτηρἠων γἴνε τοῦ γηου (?) ἀποστόλοῦ [τοῦ Καρακαλου added] καὶ ὁπις [=ὀποῖος] το ἀποζηγώσι να εχη τας ρας [=ἀράς] τω: τρηγακοσιω· θεωφωρων πατέρων τῆ καταρα αμην.
Acquired by Robert Curzon at the Karakallou Monastery in 1834: Curzon (1849), p. 21, though a note on f iv recto states that the MS was bought from the Monastery of St. Sabba, near Jerusalem.

Add MSS 39583-39671, along with Oriental MSS 8729-8855, were bequeathed to the British Museum by Darea Curzon, Baroness Zouche (d. 1917), having been part of the collection formed at Parham, Co. Sussex, by the Hon. Robert Curzon, afterwards 14th Baron Zouche, as the result of his travels in the Levant, etc., in 1833 and later. A copy of Robert Curzon's Catalogue of Materials for Writing, ... Rolls and other Manuscripts and Oriental Manuscript Books (1849), with manuscript additions, accompanied the gift, and is now Add MS 64098.
