- Title:
- PARHAM MS VII: Psalter (Rahlfs 1092) with introduction and commentary based on that of Euthymius Zigabenus (PG 128), attributed in the manuscript to Nicephorus Blemmydes, imperfect
- Scope & Content:
-
PARHAM MS VII: Psalter (Rahlfs 1092) with introduction and commentary based on that of Euthymius Zigabenus (PG 128), attributed in the manuscript to Nicephorus Blemmydes, imperfect, expl. Psalm 51:9 ἀλλ' ἐπήλ[πισεν, and missing leaves after ff 4, 6, 34 (2 leaves), and 53. The text of the introduction and the commentary on Psalm 1 is that of Zigabenus, and the commentary on the inscriptions is a shortened version of that of Zigabenus. The notes on the text of the Psalms are different from, and much briefer than, Zigabenus's commentary, though apparently based on it in the main and showing not infrequent verbal agreements with it which cannot be accidental. This text apparently reflects an early version of Nicephorus' Blemmydes' commentary on the Psalms (PG 142, Coll. 1322-1622), which was primarily based on that of Zigabenus, and later expanded into a much longer commentary, which is the text to be found in the Patrologia Graeca. See further Bell (1929-1930).
