PARHAM MS. LXII. Miscellaneous prayers, in Latin, divided into two main sections, viz. :-

-(1) " Compendium Orationum," including the Seven Penitential Psalms and Litany, followed by prayers, etc., and " Orationes Homiliae in Dominicis [i.e. the collects of the Roman Missal] per ordinem dispositae, a Tertia post Pentecosten vsque ad Aduentum " (f. 22 b). f. 1 ;-

-(2) " Orationes Devotissimae," including prayers before and after Confession and Communion, prayers and meditations on the Passion, etc., two prayers of St. Thomas Aquinas (ff. 59, 61), prayers, etc., to the Virgin (" Obsecro te," f. 71 ; " O intemerata," f. 74 ; " Stabat mater," f. 76, etc.) and the Gospel-lesson for Palm Sunday (f. 81). f. 30. Vellum; ff. i + 97. 5 7/8 in. x 3 5/8 in. XVI cent. (late). Executed in France(?). Gatherings of 4 leaves (iv⁶, vi⁶, vii⁶, xiv⁶, xvi⁶, xviii⁸, last³).

Sec. fol. " et regnat." Written in a slanting italic hand, 15 lines to a page. Initials in gold, with coloured foliage. With two ornamental panels (ff. 1, 30) and six miniatures of moderate execution; the subjects are (1) David praying, f. 2 b;-

(2) Christ holding globe, f. 30 b;-

(3) The Crucifixion, f. 50 b;-

(4) St. Thomas Aquinas, f. 58 b ;-

(5) The Adoration of the Magi, f. 70 b ;-

(6) Gethsemane, f. 80 b.

Binding of contemporary wooden boards covered with black leather (18th cent. ?). An inscription in the centre of f. 1, perhaps the name of the original owner, has been erased. On f. i is the note " MSS. Curzon, 1832, No. 13." Not in Curzon Cat.
