PARHAM MS. LXX. JUVENAL, Satires, with the title " Decii (sic) Iunii Iuuenalis Aquinatis Satira Prima." The other satires have no titles, but later hands have numbered them and added occasional notes. All except the first have one or two introductory lines as in Add. MS. 24638. The text seems above the average of the period, and preserves some good readings, e.g. " duxerat " in xv. 25 with P (see A. E. Housman's edition, 1905). In xi. 151 the unmetrical " filius est " suggests the right reading. Lines 126, 147, 623-638, 483 are omitted in Sat. vi, and in Sat. x ll. 279, 360, 361 have been supplied in the margin. The colophon (f. 63) runs : DEO GRATIAS AMEN YHESVS CHRISTVS. Vellum; ff. iii + 64. 9 1/4 in. x 6 1/2 in. Late XV cent. Written in Italy. Gatherings of 10 leaves (last 4) ; 31 lines to the page. Sec. fol. " Cum leno." One gold initial with white vine ornament on particoloured ground (f. 1). The flyleaves (ff. ii, iii) are from a record of debts in Latin, 1419-1427. On f. iii is the note in Venetian dialect " Questo libro sie di miser (?) francesco uenier et fratelli fioli della magnificentia di miser (?) zuane chil chata si gel daga auera bona carniera dun bon pugno su la musa." Curzon Cat., MSS. in Latin, no. 16.
