PARHAM MS. LXXVIII. PROPHECIES of the Popes, in Latin, attributed to Joachim, Abbot of Fiore (d. 1202), and Anselm, Bishop of Marsico (d. circ. 1210), with the same series of illustrations as in Add. MS. 15691, Arundel MS. 117, and Harley MSS. 1340, 3483. The extreme names are Nicholas III and Innocent VIII, 1277-1484 ; Anselm's contribution begins with Boniface IX (1389). Repeatedly printed. Followed by a prophecy " De laudato paupere et eleto (sic) inperatore," f. 16, and, in another hand, by " Profezia Sce. Brigide in eclexia Sce. Justine de Veneziis," four lines beg. " Eclexia reformabitur et obediens erit deo, " f. 17 b. As the names of the Popes are inscribed in the original hand down to John XXIII (1410- 1415), and continued in another hand to Nicholas V " 1446 usque 1455 perseuerat et quousque deo placuerit " (f. 12 b), and to Sixtus IV in a third hand (that of the Bridget prophecy ?), it is probable that the MS. was written before 1415, and the later popes named in 1455 and later. Paper; ff. ii + 18. 11 1/4 in. x 8 in. Circ. 1410-1415?. Written in Italy. Coarse illustrations in wash, nearest in style to those of Add. MS. 15691. Note of owner R. Curzon, f. i. Curzon Cat., MSS. in Modern Languages, no. 16.
