PARHAM MS. LXXX. ARMORIAL, in colour, of German noblemen and others killed in the Austro-Venetian war of 1487 and buried in the Cathedral of San Vigilio at Trent. The actual copy compiled by " Dominicus Custodis Antuerpianus " [Dominicus
Custos (al. De Coster], the engraver, for Antony Fugger, of Augsburg, Baron of Kirchberg and Weissenhorn. In his preface (f. 2) the compiler refers to the Fugger genealogy which he is preparing, and states that deliberately choosing a subject 102 years old he has painted the arms from representations in the Cathedral " abhinc triennium [1586 ?] in presenta præstantissimmi artificis Iohannis Battistæ Fontane Veronensis, Serenissimi D. Archiducis Ferdinandi pictoris." Pref. beg. " Illustri ac generoso domino D. Antonio Fuggero . . . . Etsi tum ex eo tempore." It is preceded (f. 1) by a full-page panel containing the arms of Anthony Fugger (quarterly, 1 and 4 Fugger, 2 Kirchberg, 3 Weissenhorn), and followed (f. 4) by a portrait of the Archduke Sigismund (d. 1496), and by an extract, (f. 5 b) from lib. viii of the 10th Ennead of Marcus Antonius Coccius Sabellicus [see printed ed., Basle, 1538, ii, pp. 760, l. 19-762, l. 8]. The armorial consists of 41 coats, including the arms of the Archduke Sigismund (f. 9). The names are given in the Index. A coat, per fess, gu. and sa., a wheel arg. [Metzner, Tyrol], pasted down on f. 50, does not belong to the complication. Paper ; ff. iii + 50. A.D. 1589-90. Quarto.
