At the end (f. 165) is a list of contents in an 18th cent. hand. Vellum (except ff. iii-xiv); ff. xiv + 167. 12 in. x 8 5/8 in. A.D. 1456-1503. Gatherings of 8 leaves (xvi10, xviii10), usually with catchwords. Sec. fol. " domino sperans." Coarsely illuminated initials, one with figure of St. Peter and full border and several with partial borders, occur throughout; other initials in gold and
blue. Choral portions with music in German Gothic neums on three-line stave (sometimes not filled in). The arms of John of Baden, Elector and Archbishop of Trèves, occur in the margins of ff. 1, 2 and in initials (on f. 41 b, 42 b they are in outline only) throughout the MS. as follows :-( a) Electorate of Trèves and Baden quarterly (ff. 1, 32 b, 35, 42 b, 71, 73, 81, 115, 130 b) ;- (b) Trèves, on an inescutcheon Baden (ff. 41 b, 86 b, 126 b) ;- (c) Electorate of Trèves (f. 73) ;- (d) Baden (ff. 1, 73) ;- (e) Baden and Spanheim quarterly (ff. 12 b, 102, 149) ;- (f) Spanheim (f. 1) ;- (g) Würtemberg (ff. 2, 123 b) ;-- (h) Lorraine (f. 1) ;- (k) Oettingen-Spilburg (f. 1) (l) Helfenstein, gu., an elephant arg. on a mount in base or (ff. 2, 153); -(m) Palatinate of the Rhine and Bavaria quarterly (f. 1) (n) Hohenzollern (f. 2). Binding of wooden boards covered with modern crimson velvet. Notes on the MS. in an 18th cent. hand are on ff. iii, iv; additioinal notes by the Rev. E. S. Dewick concerning the liturgical contents of the MS. and its arms being on ff. vi-xiv. Apparently acquired, circ. 1886, by Lord Amherst of Hackney from Bernard Quaritch, the bookseller (cat. 369, Sept. 1886, no. 35778). Purchased at the Amherst Sale (25 Mar. 1909, lot 698) for Rev. E. S. Dewick. Presented by the Rev. Edward Chisholm Dewick.
