SKETCHES and notes (supplementing Add. MSS. 39780-39792) of monuments by John Flaxman, R.A., in the hand of Maria Denman, his sister-in-law, based on the sculptor's plaster-casts which passed into her possession at his death in 1826 (cf. Sir Sidney Colvin, The Drawings of Flaxman, pp. i, 2). The majority of the casts were presented by Miss Denman to University College, London, in 1847, and are now preserved in the Flaxman Hall there. On f. 3 is " A list of original plaister casts or models by the late John Flaxman. Aug. 1835," casts subsequently presented to University College being marked in blue ink and another symbol employed for those at 74 Upper Norton Street, Fitzroy Square, Miss Denman's residence.
