The journal of George Thompson, differing somewhat from the journal of the journey of the two merchants, Thompson and Reynold Hogg, as printed by Jonas Hanway, Historical Account of the British Trade over. the Caspian Sea, 1753, i, p. 345 sqq. f. 1.
2. ''An Account of my interview with Teshoo Lama at the Monastery of Tirpaling "; 3 Dec. 1783. By [Lieut.] S[amuel] Turner, for whose mission to Thibet see G. B. Malleson, Life of Warren Hastings, 1894, p. 163. Holograph. An interesting letter from him on Thibetan affairs, 1792, is in Add. MS. 39871, f. 51. See also Add. MS. 29204, ff. 339, 344. f. 14.
3. " A sketch of a plan for the attack of a mountanious (sic) country in India." Endorsed : " Plan for an attack on Napaul With anecdotes annexed." f. 22.
4. " Plan for the attack on the Napaul Rajah to oblige him to quit Morung and intirely reduce him or to bring him to such terms as the Government may think necessary." In the same hand as the preceding. f. 26.
5. " Chart of roads " from Seringapatam to the Malabar coast at Calicut and thence down the coast to Chitwah. Dated: Madras, 31st July 1782." f. 28.
6. Arguments in Hastings' hand for and against allowing furlough to military officers in India, followed by similar arguments respecting the transfer of the E.I. Company's military establishment to the King. f. 30.
7. " A plan of constitutional regulations for the administration of the British dominions in India." In the same hand. Watermark, 1806. f. 34.
8. " Heads proposed of an Act of Parliament for the Government of the British Possessions in Bengal and its Dependencies." Two copies, in Hastings' hand, the second (f. 57, imperfect) endorsed: " Plan of Govt. suggested to Ld. Thurlow [d. 1806]." f 50.
9. "On the attempt to send missionaries to convert the Hindoos and Mosselmen " (endorsement by Col. S. Toone : " Recd from Mr. Hastings in 1807 ") Autograph. Followed (f. 67) by " Translation [by Charles Wilkins] of an address to the Inhabitants of India from the Missionaries of Srírampúr [Serampore near Calcutta, see J. Richter, History of Missions in India, 1908, p. 132], inviting them to become Christians. The original (which is in verse) is in the Bengal language and printed in the character peculiar to that province." In Hastings' hand. f. 61.
