folio.
Chronicon Angliæ à Bruto usque ad Regem Henricum VI. Incip. "Britannia quæ nunc Anglia dicitur." This chronicle, transcribed at the end of the sixteenth century corresponds in many places with that of John Brompton. It formerly belonged to the monastery of Glastonbury; but is very different from the work ascribed to one Douglas, a monk of that place, and afterwards printed by Caxton. See Harl. MSS. No. 4690. A manuscript note in a spare leaf at the beginning refers to another copy of it in the library of St. John's college, Oxford, which has the name of the author, John Shyrburne at the end of it, as the writer of this note conceives; but there is good reason for supposing that he was merely the owner. This volume was formerly in the possession of William Camden Clarencieux.
