Collections by Mr. Prynne, from records in the Tower concerning the Clergy and their great incroachments on the royal maids prerogative. Transcribed, examined, and attested by William Riley Mr Prynne's clerk. This volume formerly belonged to the Duke of Chandos, and afterwards to Mr. Umfreville the coroner who in a note on the first leaf says: "Multi estimo." Vide 3 Prynne, or his History of Edward the First, Henry III. and King John; to all which this noble collection seems (mea sententia) to have been designed as an appendix, or in nature of a review of his whole most elaborate and industrious collections, and the records subsequent to the reign of Edw. I. to be designed in confirmation. In the close of the epistle to the reader [vol, 3.] Mr. Prynne mentions subsequent tomes; likewise in animadversions on 4 Inst. 221, 249; and p. 59, expressly his 4^thtome when published. p. 221 he promises to continue it to the reign of Elizabeth. N.B. In the margin of fo. 274 of this volume there is a note, apparently, in Mr. Prynne's own handwriting.
