1. ff. 1-4, 5-6, 7b. The Sussex Mummers' Christmas Carol. Tune noted by Lucy Broadwood at Lyne near Horsham, co. Suss., in 1880 and 1881 from the singing of the mummers. Composed for piano solo; 'begun 1905 ended 1911' (f. 2). Published for piano 1911 as BFMS no. 2, and for violin and/or cello and piano 1916 as BFMS no. 17:-

2. f. 4b. Two three-part motets, transcribed from manuscript by Dom Anselm Hughes and edited by Percy Grainger (Dreyfus 1978, pp. 82, 83). Both published (for 3 unmixed or 6 mixed voices with optional organ or other instrumental accompaniment) 1950 and 1943 respectively:- (a) 'Puellare gremium'. Setting for voice, organ and orchestra. Double bass part, fair copy in pencil; 'Amarillo, Tex, Oct 9, 1943'. f. 4b;- (b) 'Alleluia Psallat'. Setting for voice, organ and orchestra. Double bass part, fair copy in pencil; 'Amarillo, Tex, Oct 9, 1943'. f. 4b (inverted).
3. ff. 7-6b (reversed and inverted). After-Word (After Song). Composed for mixed unison chorus and brass; 1910-1911 (f. 7). Compressed score in pencil, black and red ink; 'Dec. 1, 1957' at foot of each page. See Dreyfus 1978, p. 233.
4. f. 8. Brigg Fair. Collected by Percy Grainger from Joseph Taylor at Brigg, co. Linc., Apr. 1905. Published (tenor solo and unaccom-panied mixed chorus) by Forsyth 1906, revised edition by Schott 1911, as BFMS no. 7. Ink sketch of 9 bars for chorus part; 'set 12.4.5'.
5. ff. 9-27. 'I'm seventeen come Sunday'. Tune and words collected by Percy Grainger from Fred Adkinson, Redbourne, Kirton, co. Linc., 1905: 'freely set for mixed chorus and brass band (or concert brass)'; 'composed. Yule, 1905 rescored. Yule 1912' (f. 11). Published (chorus and piano score) by Forsyth 1906, (full score) by Schirmer 1912, and by Schott 1913, (revised vocal score) by Schott 1912 as BFMS no. 8.
