CHURCH HOUSE MANUSCRIPTS. Vol. XIII. Hymn-tunes, single, double and triple chants, Kyries, etc., by Sir John Stainer, Robert Lucas de Pearsall and other composers, almost all English; 1831-1916, n.d. Autograph. Partly duplicated. Mostly in short score. Alphabetically arranged, with works by unidentified composers at the end (ff. 224-243). Identified by name, opening words and partly also by measure. Partly removed from an album. Apparently collected and in part commissioned by A. H. Mann (b. 1850, d. 1929), organist and choirmaster at King's College, Cambridge, perhaps originally for The Church of England Hymnal of which he was Musical Editor. See annotations in his hand passim. About one third of these tunes are printed in the Hymnal, 1st ed., 1894. See also G. A. Stephen, Dr. Arthur Henry Mann, Memoir and Catalogue . . . (Norwich Public Libraries Readers' Guide, x, no. 2), 1930.
