TRANSCRIPTS of miscellaneous tracts and papers rel. to trade, currency and political questions, tempp. Hen. VIII, Eliz. I and Jas. I. The great majority of the documents, especially in the earlier part of the volume, concern matters under consideration by the Privy Council; a number of them occur also in vol. vii of the MSS. of the Duke of Northumberland at Alnwick Castle (Hist. MSS. Comm., 3rd Report, App., p. 51). Included are:-

The author refers to himself as one of eight members (named) of a commission from Queen Elizabeth I to make an inquisition of copyhold tenures in various manors in co. Bucks, and as the M.P. who introduced, in the Parliament Of 39 Eliz. I, a Bill for the commodious usage of lands dispersed in the common-fields (for which see D'Ewes, Journals of all the Parliaments during the reign of Elizabeth, 1682, p. 584).
