'THE SHEAPHARDS PARADISE: A Pastorall', by Walter Montagu. Printed in 1659, but written probably in or before 1632 (see letter from John Pory to Sir Thomas Puckering, 20 Sept. 1632, in Sloane MS. 4178, f. 302, printed in Dramatic Works of Sir William D'Avenant, i, p. 283), in which year it was acted at Whitehall by Queen Henrietta Maria and the ladies of the Court. Other copies are in Stowe MS. 976 and Sloane MS. 3649. The play is preceded, as in those copies, by the Dramatis Personae with (as in the Stowe MS.) the parts assigned to the Queen and her ladies, but wants the Prologue of Diana and Apollo which prefaces the play in the Sloane MS. It also differs from these copies in many verbal and technical details, but agrees very closely with the printed text of 1659. Paper; ff. i + 12. Folio. xvii cent. Hist. MSS.
