PERABO COLLECTION. Vol. VII. Music by Johann Michael Haydn and Karl Maria Friedrich Ernst von Weber, viz.:-
(1) 'Messa de Requiem', in Bb, for four voices, two violins, viola, two oboes, two horns, two fagotti, tromboni, two clarini and drums, and figured bass for organ with violoncello, by Giov. Michele [Johann Michael] Haydn. Autograph. Signed. Imperf., comprising the Requiem aeternam, Eyrie, and part of the Dies irae. A note at the end of the edition published by C. F. Peters, Leipzig, circ. 1811-1812, states that the Mass, which was commissioned by Maria Theresa, wife of the Emperor Francis II of Austria, was never finished, since the composer d. 10 Aug. 1806, before its completion. This manuscript and the printed text end at the same bar. Paper; ff. 18 (viz. 1-18). Oblong folio. Circ. 1806. Sale-cat. of List and Francke, I882, lot 11.
(2) Six variations for pianoforte, with accompaniment for violin and violoncello (ad libitum) on the Air 'Woher mag das wohl kommen' from the Opera 'Samori' of Abbé [Georg Joseph] Vogler, by Charles Marie de [Karl Maria Friedrich Ernst von] Weber. Pianoforte part only. Autograph, but with title-page, in French, and annotations and indications to printers throughout, probably in Abbé Vogler's hand. A note on the title-page (f. 19), also by him, reads 'Als Eigenthum der chymic. Druckerey cedirt den 31 [altered to 21] Augt 1804. Die übrig. 5 Theme folgen noch nach. Ab. Vogler. Pensionar d[irekto]r der Akad[emie]'. The work was first published in Vienna, from this MS., at the 'Magasin de l'imprimerie chymique'. For further details and other editions see F. W.
