(2) Tract on civil obedience, with specific reference to the situation under the Commonwealth, entitled 'The Discussing of two Politick Quæstions according to rules of Conscience and Prudence. 1: How farre a man may lawfully be subject to any person or power whatsoever which are at present actually Soueraine in [any] state or polity. 2: How farre a man may law[fully con]curre to the creating or establishin[g of a] new soueraine power and the inves[ting o]f any new person with it as of right. Humbly p[re]sented to a person of Honor and Integrity'; 1654-1660 (Cf. f. 102). Anonymous, but probably an autograph draft, written for the guidance of Sir Horatio Townshend, 3rd Bart. The text beg.
