Add MS 41667 I

Two conjoint leaves (each 280 x 200 mm), known as the Mac Veagh fragment, originally from a French music book, containing six motets in Latin and French, of which only the second is complete. According to a note signed 'T.F.B.' on f. 26r, the fragment was found, in August 1895, in the binding of a book (dated 1481) at Ampleforth College.

The compositions are:

f. 26r: 'Per grama prothoparet' (sic) over the tenor 'Valde honorandus est beatus iohannes';

f. 26r: 'De ce que folz pense', in a smaller (charter) hand (Published in J. Wolf, Handbuch der Notationskunde, i, 1913, pp. 354-360);

f. 26r: 'Se cuers ioians iones iolis' (Published in J. Wolf, Geschichte der Mensural-notation, 1904, no. 9 in parts ii and iii);

f. 26v: 'O flos florens floride';

f. 27r: 'Ie commence me canchon' over the tenor 'Iay pastez chaus';

f. 27v: 'Nous sommes de bons compaingnons';
