An imperfect copy of the Gospels (ܐܘܢܓܠܝܘܢ) in the Peshíṭtā version. The four books are divided as follows:
ff. 3v-43v: The Gospel of Matthew, which is missing chapters VIII.10-IX.2;
ff. 43v-72v: The Gospel of Mark;
ff. 72v-119r: The Gospel of Luke;
ff. 119r-156: The Gospel of John.
Each of the Gospels is divided into chapters, referred to as ܩ̈ܦܠܐܐ, distributed as follows for each of the books: Matthew (68); Mark (48); Luke (83); John (20). An imperfect guide to these, taken from the Harklean version of the New Testament, is found on ff. 1r-2v; these folios are incomplete due to tears.
The manuscript features considerable marginalia throughout, sometimes containing notes and readings from the Harklean version. The Ammonian sections and Eusebian canons are also noted throughout the text, while the lessons are marked in their usual format as marginalia. These additions appear to have been made in a later hand than that of the main text.
Similarly, amendments to the text in order to bring it into accordance with later Peshíṭtā versions has lengthened some passages. The same writer appears to have added occasional vocalization, punctuation and diacritical marks, in the East Syriac tradition.
The manuscript does not contain ownership indicators, but a reader (?) named Gúrgís Ḥaṭāyā has signed his name in Syriac, Arabic and Greek on ff. 49r and 92r.
Many of the volume''s folios are stained by water and/or ink, and several at the start of the text are torn or missing parts.
