2. "Provinciale distinctum et ordinatum per provincias ut Sequitur infra et non per alphabetum"; including lists of dioceses, arranged geographically, of Christian emperors and kings (with an account of the method of electing the Roman Emperor), and of religious and military orders. References are made to Pope Urban V. [1362- 1370], apparently as dead, and to the Eastern Empire as still existing. f. 59.
3. Life of St. Gregory the Great by Johannes Diaconus, in four books, preceded by a prologue. The prologue beg. "Beatissimo ac felicissimo domino Johanni"; book I. beg. 13. Inscriptions in Rome relating to the Roman Emperors; with epitaphs of Q. Fabius Maximus and C. Marius. f. 311. Vellum; ff. 311. XIVth-XVth cent. Written in Italy, perhaps (see artt. 9 and 10) in the monastery of St. Andrew in Rome, between 1370 and 1453 (see art. 2). Double columns. One gathering (ff. 18-23) is in a markedly different hand from the rest. Initials flourished in red and blue. On f. 1 b is a table of contents, from which it appears that the MS. formerly contained two additional articles at the beginning, the titles of which have been erased. On f. 1 are the press-marks (18th-l9th centt.) 173, 488, 1095. Belonged to Thomas Thorpe (no. 374 in his catalogue of 1836); and Phillipps MS. 9581. Octavo.
