COMMENTARIES on St. Matthew, etc., Seneca de Fortuitorum remediis, and other tracts, epibtles, etc:-
1. St. Matthew's Gospel, with marginal commentary and introduction. The comment consists of the Glossa Ordinaria of Walafridus Strabo (see Migne, Patrol., cxiv. col. 63), with additions. The introduction beg. "Fecit deus duo luminaria." f. 4.
2. "Inicipit egregii doctoris epistola Pauli / Dura quidem miseris quibus intitulatur Hebreis": commentary on the Epistle to the Hebrews, beg. "In Iudea erant ecclesie." Written in a small neat hand of about the end of the XIIth century. f. 109.
3. "Seneca de Paupertate": the excerpts from the epistles of L. Annacus Seneca as printed in F. Haase's edition (Leipzig, 1853, vol. iii. p. 458). f. 118.
4. "Liber Annei Senece ad Gallionem de fortuitorum bonorum [sic] remediis": as printed by Haase, ibid. p. 446, but without the "additiones." For arguments for the authenticity of the tract see Haase's preface to vol. iii. The rubrics to the dialogue are "Mine" and "Responsio." f. 119.
5. Two of St. Jerome's epistles, nos. x. and vii. of Migne (Patrol., xxii. coll. 343 and 338). f. 121.
6. Epistles of Sidonius Apollinaris (see Migne, lviii. col. 445); the greater part of books i. and ii. The text is in some confusion; the original scribe breaks off near the end of ep. 7 of book i. (f. 126), and the writer of the remainder, beginning on f. 127 b with ep. 8 of book i., compresses the writing and abbreviates the text by omissions, apparently from lack of space. He also ends abruptly near the beginning of ep. 13 of book ii. In the gap left on ff. 126, 127, and on the margin of pages following, the same hand has inserted a tract on civil law, beginning "Rerum alie sunt corporales." f. 122.
7. Tract on the Trinity, beg. "Licet mens humana eiusdem nature." f. 133.
8. Theological meditations, beg. "Nulla est vita quae non sit ex deo." f. 136.
9. Note concerning fire, beg. "Tres sunt nature ignis." f. 137 b.
10. Ecelesiastes, with a margina comment and introduction, chiefly from St. Jerome. Beg. "Verba ecclesiastes, etc. Tribus nominibus vocatus est Solomon." f. 140. Vellum; ff. 170. Late XIIth and early XIIIth centt. On f. 139 b are two notes in an early 13th cent. hand: "Apud Wburne [ Woburn ?]. Augustinus de Confessioibus," and "Nepos abbatis, qui est persona de B[a?]rnete, habet Priscianum magnum, et summam Priciani magistri Petri Helye, et commemtum Aristotelis, et quasdam glosas super dialect[i]cam, et unam partem Elencorum, et Boccium et Ouidium magnum." On the last fly-leaf are some theological notes. A note on f. 2 signed W. Mavor, LL.D., 1810, states that the MS. came from the Wenman Library, Thame Park, Oxon.; and a note on f. 1 records its purchase at Dr. Mavor's sale at Oxford, 1838. Phillipps MS. 16,346. Quarto.
