CHARTULARY of the dissolved Priory of St. Bartholomew the Great, Smithfield, "whereby the boundaries and priviledges of the same place and parish and the title of Robert, now Earle of Holland [sc. Rob. Rich, 2nd Earl, 1649, 5th Earl of Warwick, 1673, ob. 1675] and his auncestors thereunto doth appeare." The early charters-including three of Hen. 1. (two dated 1133), two of Hen. II., etc.-are given in an inspeximus of 2 Hen. VI. Except a plea of 14 Edw. II., a charter of Edw. III. and confirmations of Edw. IV. and Elizabeth, the rest of the contents refer chiefly to the period from the dissolution to 10 Chas. I. The bounds of the close are given at f. 73, the valuation of the close when purchased by Sir Richard Rich, Kt., in 1544 at f. 79, and an agreement, 4 Aug. 1561, with the city of London about watersupply at f. 140. Vellum; ff. 182. A.D. 1663-1673. A leaf is lost after f. 55. Initials in red and gold. Phillipps MS. 40. Quarto.
