Vol. I. (ff. 493). HISTORY of the reign of Henry I. (see also vol. iv. f. 134). Included also are letters from F[rancis] T[urner] Palgrave to Sir E. M. Thompson, Principal Librarian of the British Museum, 22 May, 1 July, 1895, ff. 1, 7; and from J[ohn] R[ichard] Green, the historian, to F. T. Palorave, 18 July, 1871, f. 3. The latter, in criticising these unpublished remains of Sir F. Palgrave, writes: "The 'Henry I.' seems to me a work of real historical value, especially in its constitutional and Scottish portions. I don't know that I ever read a more brilliant as well as learned bit of work than the description of Scotland under King David."
