CHRONICLE of the Brut, in French. A version of the same class as Cotton MS. Cleop. D. vii. In the later reigns it combines passages peculiar to different MSS. of this class, e.g. Harl. 200 and the addition to the Cotton MS. The metrical introduction is wanting. Title in a later hand, "Cy commenceits le Recite de toutz les Rois dEngleterre et d'Esc[osse]." Begins "En la cite de graunt Troie." Breaks off with the, execution of the Earl of Lancaster (1322), the miracles connected with it, and the levy of the sixth penny, "Et taunt furent les miracles qe dieu oiuerst" (cf. Harl. MS. 200, f. 76). At the end (f. 92 b) is a (15th cent.) Latin genealogy of Edward I. Vellum; ff. 92. XIVth cent. Probably belonged to Sir Roger Twysden, being sold (lot 1120) with Sir John Sebright's books in 1807 and bought by Richard Heber. At Heber's sale ill 1836 it was bought (lot 501) for Sir T. Phillipps. Phillipps MS. 8141 (sale-cat., 1897, lot 191). 10 X 6½ inches.
