Roberts (Camden Society, 1848). A further continuation, Sept. 1642-Dec. 1645, is in Add. MSS. 18,777-18,780. Cf. also a parliamentary journal (not autograph) for 1625 in Add. MS. 22,474. At the end are: (a) A copy of Prince Charles's marriage treaty, 1624, from the Mercurius Gallo-belgicus. f. 83;-(b) An epigram, anagram, chronogram, etc., on the death of Buckingham in 1628 (cf. Hilton's Chronograms, vol. ii. p. 12, but the verses differ). f. 89. Paper; ff. 90. A.D. 1627-42. The volume was apparently seized by the Royalists; see a note on f. 3: "This manuscript was founde by me one the 22th day of April, 1644, in the studie of Walter Younge, Esq., in his house of Studcombe [Stedeombe in Axminster] in Devon, witnes my haunde the day & yeare first aboue-written. E. Fortescue" [probably Sir Edmund Fortescue, the Royalist defender of Salcombe]. Phillipps MS. 20,757 (sale-cat. 1899, lot 340). 11 ½ X 7 ½ in.
