HARDWICKE PAPERS. Vol. LXXXV. Political papers, with a few letters, of Sir Joseph Yorke (Baron Dover 1788), when Minister Plenipotentiary and (1761) Ambassador-Extraordinary at the Hague; 1756-1790. Among the papers, which are apparently enclosures, or copies of enclosures, sent in his official despatches to the successive Secretaries of State, are the following:-
1. "Sur les arrangemens faits pour l'exereice des charges du Stadhouder pendant la minorité de S. A. S. le Prince d'Orange, 1759," drawn up on the death of Anne, daughter of George II., widow of William IV., Prince of Orange, for the governors, etc., of William V., her son. f. 11.
2. Request of Cornelis de Witte, of Dordrecht, grandson of Jan de Witte, Pensionary of Holland, for delivery to him of the latter's correspondence "now deposited in the Chamber of Archives"; 25 Mar. 1760. f. 15.
3. Detail of ceremonies on Sir J. Yorke's "taking upon him the character of His Majesty's Ambassador-Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the States General . . . at the Hague, Aug. 12th- 21st, 1761." f. 19.
