Correspondence addressed mainly to Sir William Bowes (d. 1707) of Streatlam, M.P., his widow Elizabeth Bowes, daughter and heiress of Sir Francis Blakiston, Bart., of Gibside, and their eldest son William Blakiston Bowes; 1693-1724. The chief writers are:-George Bowes of the Middle Temple, John Bowes, D.D., afterwards Prebendary of Durham, both brothers of Sir W. Bowes, and Cuthbert Bowes of Durham, son of Sir George Bowes of Biddick. Included also are a number of letters from the above W. B. Bowes, addressed mostly to his mother.
