FRANCIS PAPFRS. Vol. II (ff. 477). Miscellaneous papers, dramatic, poetical or political, mainly in the hands of Dr. Francis and Sir P. Francis. The most noteworthy are: -(1) Four sermons by Dr. Francis, the first (f. 1) preached at St. Peter's, Dublin, 3 Aug. 1740 ; the third (f. 17) is dated, Chelsea, Sept. 1764; the fourth (f. 20), Chelsea, 17 March 1765;-(2) A play in three acts entitled "The fortunate Disguise," preceded (f. 35) by a rough draft of part of it. On ff. 214 and 224 are portions of two other plays, the second in blank verse dealing with Statira, widow of Alexander the Great. All are in the hand of Dr. Francis. f. 94 b; -(3) Miscellaneous verses by various writers, several copied more than once in different hands; the majority of them appear to be in that of Sir P. Francis. ff. 248-331;-(4) Political tracts in the hand of Dr. Francis upon (a) John Stuart, 3rd Earl of Bute, entitled "The Projector." f. 332;-(b) The Preliminary Articles of the Peace between England and France, 3 Nov. 1762. f. 344;-
