B. Compotus of Richard Meynores, treasurer of the household of Edward Stafford, 3rd Duke of Buckingham, from 31 March 18 Hen. VII [1503] l March 19 Hen. VII [1504], of the expenses of the various houscholds of the duke, which appear to have been divided into three main groups, viz.:-(1) "Magnum hospicium," i.e. at Thombury Castle, co. Glouc., Newport, co. Monm., and London; (2) "Hospicium forinsecum," i.e. when travelling;-
(3) "Hospicium domini Staffordie," i.e. of Henry Stafford, eldest son of the duke. Besides what remained from the previous year the reecipts were gained from the following sources, viz.:-(a) "de coferio domini ductis," (b) "recepta forinseca," i.e. lands and esheats resrved for the household, (c) gifts presented to the Duke, (d) "e vendicionibus." Other compotus rolls and accompts of the Duke are in Royal MSS. 7 F. xiv, f. 1, 14 B. xxxv, Harl. MS. 1667, Add. Ch. 54409. Attached to the roll is a receipt from the Duke to his secretary, John Russell, dated 21 Sept. 20 Hen. VII [1504]. Signed. Vellum. 27 ft. 10 in. x 11.1/2 in. Thirteen membranes. Presented by Sir Henry Stafford Jerningham, 11th Bart.
