SHELTON YOUNG COLLECTION. Vol. CLV. Transcripts, in a feigned hand, of deeds relating to Newport, Siefton, Corfton, Culmington, Diddlebury, Kinnerton and Clee St. Margaret, co. Salop. Latin. The most interesting document is a licence to lay lead pipes from a well in Newport, dated 30 June 1309, on f. 1 b. On ff. 5, 5 b are transcripts of two compotus rolls of the bailiffs of Henry Percy, 1st Earl of Northumberland, holding lands during the minority of Edmund Mortimer, 5th Earl of March, for Chirbury, co. Salop, and Halcestre [i.e. Halton, in Church Stoke, co.Montgomery; cf.R.W.Eyton, Antiquities of Shropshire, xi, pp. 73 n., 141]. Both documents date from Michaelmas 23 Ric. II-Mich. 1 Henry IV [1399-1400]. Abstracts made by Randle Holme II, in 1656, from the originals of some of these documents, then in the possession of Philip Yonge of Caynton, co. Salop, are in Harley MS. 2063, ff. 5-13. Ff. ii + 6. xvii cent.
