Vol. II. Correspondence and papers, mainly of Nathaniel Bacon (kt. 1604, d. 1622) of Stiffkey, co. Norf., 2nd son of Sir Nicholas Bacon, Lord Keeper, and halfbrother of Sir Francis Bacon. He was twice Sheriff of Norfolk (1586 and 1599), and four times M.P. (thrice for Norfolk and once for King's Lynn). For further details see W. The papers came into possession of the Townshends through the marriage of his eldest daughter and co-heiress, Anne, with Sir John Townshend of Raynham.
