B. Eleven paper sheets, each 16.1/8 in. x 11½ in., except B 4 (9 in. x 11½ in.) and B 5 (7.1/8 in. x 11½ in.), showing the first portion of the retreat from Lake Albert Nyanza to the Island. of Zanzibar, by way of Lakes Albert Edward Nyanza and Victoria Nyanza. The chart is discontinued at Masari Poro (reached 28 Sept. 1889), at which point (sheet B 11) there is a note concerning the maps used for the remainder of the journey. On the verso of the same sheet there is a copy, with some variations, of sheet B 9, and on the verso of B 10 a map of the Rev. - Blackburn's route from Mamboya to Mombasa. Originally drawn in pencil, apparently by Stanley himself, but many of the entries have been inked over and a number have been erased. These charts are probably the basis of the map preceding p. 1 of Stanley's In Darkest Africa, 1890, which contains an account of this expedition.
includes:
- 1-11 Eduard Carl Oscar Theodor Schnitzer, alias 'Emin Pasha'; Governor of the Equatorial Provinces: Route map of H. M. Stanley's expedition for relief of: [1887-1899].
- 1-11 Henry Morton Stanley, explorer: Route maps of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition etc., by: [1887-1889].
- 1-11 Maps and Plans: Route-map of the Emin Pasha Relief Expedition: [1887-1889].
- 10 (verso) Maps and Plans: Rev. - Blackburn's route from Mamboya to Mombasa.: 19th cent.
