T. A Treatise on the Art of War (called an "A.B.C. for the warres" on f. 188) in two books, addressed to Edward VI by Thomas Audley, Lieutenant of the Lower Town of Boulogne and Gentleman Usher. Beg. "It maie please your most excellent ma^tie I doo perceive by Mr ffowler." Notes, in both Latin and English, are entered in the margins by a writer using two scripts. A compressed version, ignoring the division into books, is in Add. MS. 23971, where it is followed by an epitaph on Audley in 23 stanzas. The text was revised by the author in the first year of Queen-Mary, according to the copy in the Bodleian Library, Tanner MS. 103, f. 30. Another Bodleian MS., Rawlinson D. 363, contains a different military treatise by Audley, there wrongly called Sir Thomas. Paper. Folio. xvi cent. f. 185. Presented by Lt.-Col. St. Pierre Bunbury, late R.A.
