Memorandum, dat. 25 May 1863, by [Henry Thomas Pelham, 3rd Earl of] Chichester, certifying his destruction on that day (in the presence of his son, Lord Pelham, and his son-in-law, Samuel Whitbread) of papers surrendered in 1809 by Mrs. Mary Anne Clarke to [Thomas Pelham, 2nd] Earl of Chichester, acting on behalf of [Frederick], Duke of York. Followed (f. 198) by Mrs. Clarke's agreement and receipt for £10,000, 1 and 3 Apr. 1809, and (f. 201) a letter from the Duke of Wellington to the [3rd] Earl of Chichester respecting the proposed settlement of the debt after the Duke of York's death by George IV, 31 May 1829. f. 196.
