- Penqíṭā d-taḥwiyātā wa-d-kúnaše wa-d-egarātā - ܦܢܩܝܛܐ ܕܬܚܘܝܬܐ ܘܕܟܘܢܫܐ ܘܕܐܓܪܬܐ
- Scope & Content:
-
A codex containing Syriac-language materials of various forms, the majority of which relate to theological and ecclesiastical matters. These include extracts from the Old and New Testaments, commentaries on Biblical passages, Church history, and correspondence between Church Fathers. Many of the passages are imperfect or incomplete.
A full listing of the contents of the work can be found in the printed catalogue entry listed at the end of this record.
An intricate geometrical pattern, enclosed within a large circle and featuring Syriac letters throughout, is found on f. 1r. Along the outsides of the figure and underneath it are texts that are partially faded or effaced to the point of being illegible. It appears that both this figure and the text of the codex itself were copied by the Monk Abraham, who is mentioned above the figure on f. 1r.
Two monks from Turabdin, Gabrāᵓíl Sabírínāyā (?) and Abraham, the former''s nephew, recorded their names in the work in 1804 AG (1493 CE). Gabrāᵓíl''s inscription can be found at the bottom of the folio on f. 84v, while that of Abraham is on f. 98r. Abraham''s inscription is longer, but is partially faded.
The manuscript contains marginalia at various parts of the text.
Many folios are stained by water or ink. Several have holes, and those at the start of the codex are torn and missing sections.
