"THE EREMYTE and the Owtelawe. A Balade." In 363 lines, beginning, "Off tweye brethyrn y may you tell;" preceded by 23 lines, beginning, "Almyghty God that man gan make." The poem is in the metre of the "King of Tars," and other romances burlesqued by Chaucer in his "Rime of Sir Thopas." On f. 1b is the following note by Dr. Philip Bliss: "This very curious specimen of old English poetry was transcribed and presented to me by William Fillingham, Esq., of the Middle Temple. It is from a very valuable manuscript on vellum in his possession, which is the only copy of it known to exist." Paper; circa 1806. Small Quarto.
