"A SERMON, proveing the authority of his præsent Maiesty King George to be divine, and perswading sincere obedience to him as the best of Kings: dedicated to his Grace John Duke of Marlbrough and Prince of Mindlheim, a wise Counsellor, a faithfull Subiect and a victorious Generall, by Michael Doughty, Vicar of Barrow [-upon-Humber] in the County of Lincoln." The dedication to the Duke of Marlborough and another to King George I. are in Latin. Dr. Bliss has written on the back of the deed that formed the original cover, "Of the author of this very curious sermon I have hitherto discovered no trace, either in Oxford or among the graduates at Cambridge."
