EGMONT PAPERS. Vol. CCLXI. Egmont MS. 178. Pedigrees made by Richard St. George as Norroy King of Arms, and Henry St. George, as Bluemantle Pursuivant of Arms, at the heraldic visitation of Cheshire; 1613. The visitation has been printed by Sir G. J. Armytage and J. Paul Rylands (Harleian Society Publications, vol. lix, 1909), from a later copy, Harley MS. 1535; some use is made in this edition of College of Arms MS. C.6 and of Harley MS. 1070, containing original rough pedigrees with signatures, but the present MS., which contains further signed pedigrees, does not appear to have been known. Other contents include:-(1) Pedigrees, copies of charters, etc., collected during the visitation of Lancashire, 1613, by Richard St. George, including signed pedigrees (Elstone, Walmsley, Shawe): see also Harley MS. 1437 edited by F. R. Raines, Chetham Society, vol. lxxxii, 1871. ff. 2-8;-(2) 'Collections out of offices and record for and concerning the Countie Palatine of Chester'. ff. 26-39. An index is at the end (ff. 88-97). Paper; ff. ii+97. A.D. 1613. Osborne cats. 27 Nov. 1738, and 26 Feb. 1739, item 111. Numbered '177' in an 18th cent. hand at f. 1. Vellum binding with armorial bookstamps of Richard St. George on the front and back; St. George (?) press mark 'b. 12', and the words 'Cheshire' and 'Lan[cast]ria' in a contemporary hand on the spine.
