EGMONT PAPERS. Vol. CCLXVIII (ff. i+166). Egmont MS. 183. 'Pedigrees of the Nobility by Lilly' (sic title on spine); pedigrees mainly in the band of Henry Lilly, Rouge Dragon, to 1637 (f. 115b) accompanied by coats of arms, some in colour. Possibly compiled for a member of the Poulett family, cf. the achievement of their arms at the beginning (f. 2) and pedigree at ff. 8b-9. The present MS. is the one referred to in 1765 by George Allan, the antiquary, as 'a book of undoubted authority' (J. Nichols, Literary Anecdotes, viii, p. 711), after he had seen it in the possession of Lord Egmont. An engraved achievement of royal arms by Jodocus Hondius of Flanders, 1614, forms the frontispiece (f. 1).
