EGMONT PAPERS. Vol. CCLXX (ff. ii+46). Egmont MS. 274. Notebook compiled by Gregory King, Rouge Dragon (Lancaster Herald 1689-1712), during the heraldic visitation of Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire, when he accompanied Sir Henry St. George the younger, Clarenceux; 4-28 July 1684. English and (ff. 29, 44) French. The contents include evidence for arms and pedigrees, points to be queried, church notes, etc., and an interesting, though fragmentary, diary of events (f. 44). The itinerary of the visitation appears from travel notes (f. lb), and from the order of the collection, to have been as follows:- Cambridge, 7-10 July; Linton, 11 July; Newmarket, 12 July; Ely, 13 July; Wisbech, 15 July; March, 17 July; St. Ives, 18 July; Huntingdon, 19-20 July; Stilton, 22 July; Kimbolton, 23 July; St. Neots, 24 July; Caxton, 25 July; Royston, 26 July. The original record of the visitation is in the College of Arms.
