Canons and studies in counterpoint attributed to W[illiam?l Gr[egory?], M[atthew?] L[ocke?], C[hristopherl Gibb[ons] and anonymous are entered at the foot of ff. 74-75, 76b-78 and on ff. 78b-79. The manuscript is written in several different hands. Index (f. viii) in the hand of James Kent (with additions by E. H. W. Meyerstein) and corrections on ff. 104-109, 111-112 (formerly pastedowns) possibly written by him. Paper. 315 mm. x 200 mm. Late xvII-early XVIII centt. Belonged to James Kent, organist, of Winchester (bookplate, f.v). Signature of E. H. W. Meyerstein, Oct. 1930 (f. vi). Original marbled covers and endpapers now at ff. i-iii, x-xii. Former catalogue numbers '97 1' (f. i), 'T. 6765' (f. iv) in Kent's hand, '445' (f. ix).
