Anonymous except for a cebel by Jeremiah Clarke at ff. 2-3, but the following can be identified:- ff. 3b-4, 'Happy Groves' by [John?] Barrett (cf. Add. MS. 47446, f. 14); ff. 5-6b, variations called 'Old Simon the King' printed in The Second Part of Musick's Hand-maid, 1689, no. 28; f. 7b, Prince Eugene's March by J. Clarke (cf. F. Zimmerman, Henry Purcell, 1963, S 120); ff. 8b-9, the minuet known as Madame de Subligny's minuet (cf. Add. MS. 22099, f. 12); ff. 9b- 11, ground in C minor by Purcell (Zimmerman, T 681); f. 12, 'The Peace', also called 'Trumpet', by Lord Byron (cf. Add. MS. 22099, f. 5). Two songs, by John Weldon and John Eccles, are entered by the same copyist at the back of the volume (ff. 15b-13 reversed). Paper. 315 mm.x200 mm. Late xvII-early xvIII cent. Brown leather binding with gold tooling (rebacked).
