MEYERSTEIN BEQUEST. Vol. XII (ff. ii+4). Keyboard music:-
(1) Unfinished piano cadenza in E flat; early 19th cent. In the same hand as item (3) below. At the foot of the page faint remains of music written in pencil. f. 1.
(2) Piano cadenza in F by Muzio Clementi, similar in style to the preludes and cadenzas published in Clementi's Musical Characteristics, op. 19, [1790?]. Autograph. ff. 1b-2.
(3) Keyboard sonata in the style of Domenico Scarlatti. Title, 'L'Eventail', added in pencil in the same hand as the note, 'Written by Clementi', on f. 1b. ff. 2b-4b. Paper. 140 mm. x 220 mm. Late XVIII-early XIX cent. According to a note by Arthur F. Hill on f. i the manuscript, together with three letters of Clementi (now Add. MS. 47843, ff. 7-12), belonged to Mrs Alpe of Hardingham Hall, near Attleborough, co. Norf., to whom it was presented by Clementi, and to her grand-daughter, Mrs Sconce of Kensington, from whom Hill obtained it. Purchased by E. H. W. Meyerstein on 24 June 1947 from Otto Haas (cf. ff. i, ii) who acquired it at the Hill sale (Sotheby's salecat., 16-17 June 1947, lot 277).
