MEYERSTEIN BEQUEST. Vol. XXIII (ff. 37). Miscellaneous music copied from printed editions by E. H. W. Meyerstein; 20th cent. Originally three notebooks with Meyerstein's signature and comments on the covers. Contents mainly piano music by John Field including the piano sonatas in C minor, op. 1, no. 3 (ff. 2-10) and B (ff. 26-31b); a nocturne, 'The Troubadour' (ff. 12-13b), Marche Triomphale (f. 14), piano part of the quintet in A flat (ff. 14b-19), the cavatina, 'Reviens Reviens' (ff. 19b-23) and two waltzes (ff. 37-37b), the first sometimes attributed to Weber (cf. F. W. Jähns, Carl Maria von Weber ... Chronologisch-thematisches Verzeichniss, 1871, no. 148). Also included are the sonata in F minor, op. 14, no. 3, by Muzio Clementi (ff. 32-37), and 'Minstrell's Song' beg. '0 sing unto my Roundelay' (ff. 23-23b) from A Collection of Glees Catches &c., by Stephen Paxton, op. 5, [1782]. Paper. 290 mm.×235 mm. xx cent.
