MEYERSTEIN BEQUEST. Vol. XLV. Illuminated pedigree roll of the Hopton family of Armley, W.R., co. York; late 17th cent. Imperfect at the foot. The surviving part of the pedigree traces the family from Sir Ingram Hopton, who came to England with William I, to Christopher Hopton (d. 1585), who married Margaret Danby. See also R. Thoresby, Ducatus Leodiensis, 2nd ed., by T. D. Whitaker, 1816, pp. 187-189; Add. MS. 26739, ff. 188-190. Vellum. 3.65 m.×0.625 m., now comprising five membranes sewn together. Late XVII cent. At the head of the roll an armed figure representing Sir Ingram Hopton; armorial bearings in colour throughout.
