Petition addressed to the strategus Dionysius from Ptolemaeus, son of Glaucias, 'secluded' (katochos) in the Serapeum in Memphis, complaining that some men had tried to enter the sanctuary and attack him, as he was a Greek. They robbed and beated Diphilus, another recluse. Ptolemaeus asks that the men should be summoned; the list of the accused follows.
Further writing is found in the margins.

Light-brown papyrus sheet, complete and well preserved; written on one side across the fibres, the back being blank. There is one column of 35 lines, and further writing in the side margins: in the left margin, the text is upside down, in the right margin it runs along the right edge perpendicularly to the main column. Margins are extant, the right and lower being minimal. The papyrus is mounted on cardboard in a glass frame.

Dimensions: 337 x 207 mm; housed in a glass frame measuring 360 x 230 mm.
Script: Well-formed and clear upright hand, with a tendency to become more cursive and with occasional ligatures; lines tend to incline upwards and are compressed at the bottom.
