Pap. CXXVII. HOMER'S ILIAD; fragments of books v., vi., xviii. Each book is in a different hand, and probably belonged originally to a different MS. The portions of the text contained in the fragments are as follows, but in no case is a complete line preserved :-
(a) Il. v. 731-734, 815-818, 846-850, in a semi-cursive hand, leaning rather backwards. (b) Il. vi. 90-100, 119-125, in a tall, delicate, uncial hand. (c) Il. xviii. 1-22, 29-33, 77-92, 98-121, 125-136, 152-161, 168- 175, 227-230, 273-275, 279-288, 320-349, 359-371, 387-394, 398- 410, 412-425, 442-450, 455-465, 467-477, 479-492, 501-5l8, 534- 543, 563-575, 578-517. The MS. originally included 14 columns, each containing about 45 lines, and 10 inches high. The text is generally free from errors. Written in an upright and rather square uncial of fair size, with accents and marks of elision, apparently in the first hand. 3rd or 4th cent. (?). Collated in Classical Texts from Papyri in the British Museum, pp. 98, 99.
